At some point in the life of most mature adults they start to disappear. This is true in the physical sense as well as the social. Sometimes known as Ageism, it is the result of a curious juxtaposition of physical changes (loss of hair color and hair; loss of musculature and a shrinkage in stature) and how one is looked upon by others (being seen as no longer relevant; being of little interest to others and therefore less visible).
John McCain has been complaining about unfair treatment by the media compared to the adoration they appear to bestow on Barack Obama. Sure, there is some of that, but if the truth be told, Mc Cain is suffering from a mostly unavoidable, common malady among senior citizens, he is becoming invisible. Can he really blame the media for something that is rampant in society at large, that is, ageism.
His campaign has been trying to invigorate his candidacy by going in two directions. They are attempting to resurrect images of the once dashing, iconoclastic, heroic and handsome young man he used to be. Old black and white photographs, unfortunately, stir up nostalgia rather that the enthusiasm the campaign lacks.
That is being alternated with a kind of sniping involving both definitions of the word. A sniper examines his foe from a distance with a fixated attention to detail in order to discover his vulnerable points in order to take accurate shots and bring him down.
Snipe, also means one who makes sly, nasty verbal attacks.
Regardless of which form we are talking about, both reveal a candidate who is seeking to win by acknowledging the superior public stature, the vividness, of his opponent. Thus Mc Cain is doing to himself the very thing he claims the press is doing. He is fading from the spotlight by directing it instead at his nemesis and in the process is promoting AGEISM.

A new low for you. Watching all that Olbermann is having an effect. Kieth would be proud.
John has not complained about the lack of coverage. That's one of the things that pisses us off on the Right. He refuses to defend himself. If he had nothing else going for him in this election at least he had the reputation of being courageous. Now, in the face of the media, he is showing himself a pitiful coward.
