I just caught a snippet of an interview on TV with a former CIA operative who thinks that the day will soon come when warring countries in the middle east start to concentrate on destroying each others oil rigs, holding tanks and pipelines. The supply disruption will lead to such severe shortages that gas prices of $20 a gallon will come to pass.
He goes on to predict that this will lead to a widespread depression.
I want to believe he is wrong. I want to believe that the people directly involved could not be that stupid. I want to believe that if people in authority see an imminant train wreck, someone will have the good judgment to step on the breaks.
Or, is the unfolding of historical calamity once underway, something that is inevitable?
There have been many instances in the past when statesmen have found ways to prevent catastrophies. But over the most recent few years the bulk of those instances have taken place on "The West Wing", a TV show.

spend those bucks to drill in new places, fat cats just want to get fatter, just plain greed.
you can have them i don't envy any rich guys,as long as we can survive and keep going live each day with a smile and love of god. who cares or worries about future one day at a time.
I like your attitude. Worrying about the long term future doesn't accomplish much.
Is it generally available at gas stations? Eventually, I suspect those new cars will have to be retrofitted.
lpg gas is 53 cents and yes all service stations have it available
$1aus =------$0.75 us[THUMBUP]
I love to drive on the open road but hate traffic. We bought a crossover vehicle, a Honda CR_V in 2004. It provides ample storage space for our travel gear and dump runs, After my previous Camry I particularly like the high road clearance and the mileage isn't too bad at 27-30.
We go frequently to Florida where because of the heavy rains their curb lines are high next to the runoff trenches in the street. All too often the Camry used to scrape bottom. You know how grating that can be. [ROLLEYES]
